DIY Resin Trays That Look Like Ceramic

Do you love the look of ceramic trays but don’t have a kiln (or the budget)? These DIY resin trays are the perfect blend of modern style and handmade charm—and they’re easier than they look. They’re perfect for gifting, styling your home, or even selling at craft markets or online.

Supplies You’ll Need:

Instructions:

1. Prep Your Space

Lay down a silicone mat or parchment paper. Make sure your space is well-ventilated and dust-free.

2. Mix & Tint Resin

Mix resin according to package instructions. 1 part water and 3 parts of powder. The amount will vary depending on the mold you plan to use. Be sure to use the food weight scale to ensure you have the correct amounts for each part. Add a few small spoonfuls of mica powder—warm neutrals give a ceramic vibe.

3. Pour & Swirl

Pour resin into the mold. Use a stick to swirl softly for depth and dimension. Make sure the mold sits level.

4. Let Cure

Leave undisturbed for 2-3 hours. Once cured, gently remove from the mold. I like to wait until 24 hours before I touch it.

6. Seal the Look

Brush on a thin coat of varnish (matte) or similar to protect the tray.
