What Lights You Up: How to Find Joy and Live Fully
I hope you’re doing okay! Let’s sit and chat for a minute. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how easy it is to get caught up in everything and everyone else’s needs—work, family, social obligations, and even other people’s dreams. Somewhere in the midst of pouring ourselves out for others, we forget to pause and ask, “But what actually lights me up?” It’s a powerful question.
We’ve been conditioned to prioritize other people’s happiness. While caring for those we love is beautiful, it often leaves little space for us to nurture ourselves. That’s why I think it’s time we flip the script. Let’s get curious about the things that bring you joy—not the joy you create for someone else, but the joy that fills your heart so deeply that you feel lighter, freer, and alive.
Rediscovering Your Spark
Think about the last time you laughed so hard your stomach hurt, or when you got lost in something you loved doing and completely forgot to check the time. Those moments are like breadcrumbs leading you back to yourself.
What makes your heart beat a little faster with excitement?
Where do you feel the most peace and inspiration?
What’s one simple thing you could do today that would make you smile?
When you start to notice these sparks, you’re reconnecting with your authentic self—the part of you that knows what you need, even when life gets loud.
From Existing to Living
Life isn’t meant to be a constant cycle of to-do lists and obligations. It’s meant to be lived. Think of it like your own Eat, Pray, Love journey—a decision to explore, create, and embrace the things that feel aligned with your soul. That doesn’t always mean big trips or dramatic changes. Sometimes it’s as simple as:
Picking up a forgotten hobby
Spending time outdoors
Calling a friend who always makes you laugh
Making time to rest without guilt
These little choices bring you back home to yourself.
Give Yourself Permission
You don’t have to earn the right to feel joy. You don’t have to justify doing things that make you happy. In fact, when you’re fully lit up, you show up better for everyone around you. Your light inspires others to find their own.
So, consider this your reminder to give yourself permission to slow down, to explore, and to embrace whatever sparks joy within you. Because you only get one life—don’t settle for existing when you were made to truly live.
Let’s make a pact: more laughter, more inspiration, more soul-filling moments. Take time this week to do one thing—just for you—that brings you peace and joy. You deserve that.
